Bal-Makhshoves (Isidor Elyashev)

(1873-1924)
   Lithuanian Yiddish author. Born in Lithuania, he studied medicine in Heidelberg and Berlin, and practised medicine in Russia. He edited a daily Yiddish newspaper in Riga and eventually settled in Berlin. His five-volume collected writings appeared in Berlin from 1910-15.
